Buffet's Weekly Picks - LA (March 25th - March 31st)
Welcome to our first edition of “Buffet’s Weekly Picks – LA”! Our aim is to highlight great picks from around LA that we think you all will like, whether you’ve been before or are hearing about them for the first time!
For weather this week, we’re looking at partly cloudy skies and mild temps before rain and low 60s this weekend, so make sure to try to spend some time outside before the weekend!
Our Culinary-based Pick: Craig’s
Description: An American restaurant that has been lovingly called “the Olive Garden for celebrities” by comedian Jeff Ross, Craig’s offers an intimate and delicious dining experience to its guests. Featuring a variety of dishes and vegan options, this restaurant is great for catching up with a close friend over cocktails and dinner or a date you would like to impress.
Why We Like It: The service here is amazing and the food does, in fact, live up to the hype. We’re big fans of the mood they set with the interior design and lighting, which creates the perfect atmosphere for leaning towards your dining partner, conspiratorially. Additionally, the chocolate chip cookies are absolutely delish!
Final Thoughts: We highly recommend Craig’s for a dinner rendezvous with good friends or an SO, newly established or long-term. It has just the right mix of great staff, great vibes, and great food to make a really nice evening out.
Our Activity Pick: K1 Speed Indoor Go-Karting
Description: For those with a need for speed or are just looking for a little competition, K1 Speed offers a fun, indoor experience for all ages (even adults!). Navigate tight corners and battle it out with the other racers for 1st place!
Why We Like It: We enjoy that it’s a different and exhilarating experience that can be fun for both friends (in pairs and groups) and dates! Also, you don’t need a license or go-karting experience to participate and have fun. Additionally, since it’s indoors, it’s great for when the weather is less than perfect (like this week).
Things to Keep in Mind: K1 Speed mostly functions on a first-come, first-served basis with their Arrive & Drive experience. So, weekends can get very busy and they will likely have a wait time, so this activity might require some planning. Definitely give their website a read when purchasing your races!
Final Thoughts: With three locations across LA (Burbank, Gardena, and Anaheim), this is a great activity for rainy weekends in LA. Whether you’re with friends, new and old, or a romantic partner, try K1 Speed for something new and exciting. (Not recommended for the overly competitive.)
Our Event Pick: Beyoncé Playback Party at Desert 5 Spot
Description: This Friday, March 29th at 6 – 7 PM and again at 9 – 10 PM, Desert 5 Spot will be playing Beyoncé’s first country album ‘Cowboy Carter’. Whether you’re a Beyoncé fan or a country fan, this will be the listening party to be a part of!
Why We Like It: Beyoncé is Beyoncé. Need we say more? Fine, we’ll go on. As a Houston, TX native, Beyoncé knows country like no other and has been tying more of her recent discography to her roots as a Texan and black musician (see Renaissance and Formation). An exciting musical release like this will be great to experience among a crowd of other fans at a cool, vintage Southwest Americana-inspired bar like Desert 5 Spot!
Things to Keep in Mind: Desert 5 Spot is asking that people RSVP for this event! Also, we tried to keep all our recs indoors this week (because of the weather) but this one was too good to pass up! Desert 5 Spot is a Western rooftop bar, so dress accordingly (that means cowboy boots and a jacket)!
Final Thoughts: This is a great event for Beyoncé fans, lovers of all things Western, and margarita enthusiasts. If you don’t already have plans this Friday night, we highly recommend you RSVP and wear your cowboy hat to this listening party!
